How do I redeem my voucher? Which departure dates can be requested?

Voucher valid only for travel dates that fall within start and end dates shown above. Once you've purchased your voucher, please reach out to Valencia Travel to provide your personal travel information and secure your desired dates. Departures are available almost every week, however please request at least two departure date options with Valencia Travel, as all departures are subject to availability at the time. Your date is not guaranteed until you have provided your information (please note: each date also requires a minimum of two participants in order to run). Please do not make travel arrangements or book airfare until you have received confirmation from Valencia Travel.

What is the best way to get to the trip start location?

Plan to arrive at the airport in Lima, Peru (LIM) by 6:00 am on Day 1. A representative from Valencia Travel will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel.
Please note that the trip ends in Puno, Peru. A guide will pick you up from your hotel in Puno and take you to the nearest airport in Juliaca (JUL). If you are flying back to the U.S., you'll need to take a flight from Juliaca to Lima first. Valencia Travel suggests that you depart from Juliaca airport by 7:00 pm.

Do you have flight recommendations for Lima to Cusco?

You need to depart from Lima at 9:00 am and Valencia Travel suggests you book with LATAM or Avianca Airline. Please note that the cost of this airfare is not included in the price of this trip and will need to be purchased separately. For flight booking assistance, please contact Valencia Travel.

Is it possible to arrive in Lima a day early?

Yes, you are welcome to arrive at the hotel in Lima as many days in advance as you wish. Accommodations are $120 USD per night. Please contact Valencia Travel prior to your departure to arrange your reservation.

What are the accommodations like?

Pricing is based on shared (double occupancy) rooms in three-star hotels. These rooms include two separate twin size beds.
The homestay in Luquina Karina on Lake Titicaca is a very authentic experience. You'll be welcomed into the home of a local family for a night and accommodations vary but are all clean, safe, and well vetted by Valencia Travel. For most customers, this unique experience is one of the highlights of the trip.

Can solo travelers get their own room? Is there a single supplement fee?

Solo travelers or the odd-numbered person in your group may opt to share with another person of the same gender (if available). If this option is not available, or if you would like to have your own room, you'll need to pay a single supplement of $400 directly to the operator.

What meals are included?

Breakfasts at the hotels are included, and served continental-style. Two lunches and one dinner are also included. You'll be on your own for the rest of your meals, so you can sample the Andean cuisine as you wish.

In Peru, the sun is strong and the weather can shift quickly in higher altitudes. Valencia Travel recommends you bring the following:
Comfortable walking shoes
Hiking pants or shorts
Quick-dry shirts
A sweatshirt or fleece
An all-weather jacket
A sun hat and sunscreen
Bug repellent

How much extra money should I budget?

You should budget around $800 for food, souvenirs, and gratuities for the trip.

Do I need a visa?

If you are an American citizen you do not need a visa to visit Peru.

What if I want to change my travel dates?
-
If your reservations are not yet confirmed, you can change your travel dates for a $200 change fee. After your reservations are confirmed, the change fee will be $400.

Should I purchase travel insurance? If so, do you have a recommended provider?

Travel insurance is required for this adventure. It allows you to seek reimbursement if you are forced to cancel your trip for unforeseeable reasons, or if you need to cover medical help, emergency transport, and/or theft or accidental damage while traveling. For travel insurance, we recommend VisitorsCoverage as a provider.

Are there special requirements for entry into the destination I am visiting?

We recommend you visit the local government websites where you plan to travel and review the required documentation for entry, current restrictions, and general recommendations for travel within the area. We encourage you to also visit your home country's embassy website if you are traveling to a foreign country. Requirements can change rapidly. Please be sure you stay abreast of the requirements and restrictions for anywhere you plan to visit. You can also enroll in the U.S. government’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) and you will be sent updates if the situation in your destination changes. Can I cancel or modify my trip?

Yes! Book confidently with Free Cancellations within 72 hours of booking. After 72 hours, cancellation fees will apply.

Up to 60 days prior to departure*
You may postpone or modify your trip up to 60 days prior to departure with no fees or penalties.
You will have the option to:
1) Select a new travel date within two years of your original departure date, or
2) Select a new adventure or destination, or
3) Receive 100% lifetime store credit toward a future trip.
*Please note, when choosing a new date, you must choose a date within the same travel season in 2022 or 2023 to avoid any additional trip costs. If you select a new adventure, you will be responsible for the difference of any additional trip costs above the value of your current trip.
Up to 30 days prior to departure*
You may postpone your trip up to 30 days prior to departure with no fees or penalties.
You will have the option to:
1) Select a new travel date within two years of your original departure date, or
2) Receive a lifetime store credit toward a future trip. Standard cancellation fees will apply.
*Please note, when choosing a new date, you must choose a date within the same travel season in 2022 or 2023 to avoid any additional trip costs. If you choose to cancel, you will receive a lifetime credit, minus cancellation fees, towards a future trip.
Less than 30 days prior to departure*
In some cases, you may have the option to postpone your trip within 30 days prior to departure.
If this is available at the time of your request, you will have the option to:
1) Select a new travel date within one year of your original departure date. Additional trip costs may apply and new dates are subject to availability, or
2) Receive a lifetime store credit toward a future trip. Standard cancellation fees will apply.
