Is my departure guaranteed? Is there a minimum number of people per departure?
Barring natural disasters or other circumstances where safety is of concern, expeditions are guaranteed regardless of group size. There is no group minimum. However, please wait to make travel arrangements until you receive confirmation from OneSeed Expeditions.
Is there a minimum age requirement?
Yes. Participants must be at least 16 years old and travel with a parent or guardian.
What is the best way to get to the trip start location?
Arrive in Cusco at any time on Day 1 of your itinerary. Fly into Cusco, Peru (CUZ), where you'll be met by a representative from OneSeed Expeditions and transferred to your accommodation.
Are private departures available?
Yes, we have private departures available on this trip! Private departures offer more flexibility to travel when it suits your group. A private departure can be reserved with two or more people. Additional costs may apply and dates are subject to availability. Please contact our Adventures Team to explore pricing and check on availability.
What kind of shape do I need to be in for this trip?
This expedition requires above average physical fitness. You'll reach high altitudes and experience high levels of physical exertion. No technical skills are required and first-time trekkers are welcome. Typical days require 5-10 hours of trekking and some expeditions include large elevation changes.
What should I do to prepare physically for the trip?
The more prepared you are for the trail, the more you'll be able to enjoy the adventure. For any expedition, the most important thing you can do is get outside and get walking. Break in new gear--especially boots!--and get used to walking on varying terrain (uphill, downhill, trail, etc.). Check the daily activity level for your expedition and use this as a training guide.
Do I need a visa for my trip?
Visa requirements vary by country and are usually determined by the passport you're using. Currently, US citizens do not need a visa for entry into Peru. For travelers of other nationalities, please see the relevant embassy website or contact OneSeed directly for information on visa fees and entry requirements.
What is the average group size?
Group sizes will vary, however, all trips are limited to a maximum of 10 persons.
What are the accommodations like?
Lodging in Cusco and Aguas Calientes will be in 3-star boutique hotels. Lodging in Santa Maria and Santa Teresa is more basic due to the remote location.
Can solo travelers get their own room? Is there a single supplement fee?
If you are a solo traveler and you would like to stay in a room by yourself, this is an option for an additional fee. OneSeed does offer a complimentary matching service where they try to match solo travelers of the same gender who are interested in sharing a room. If someone else is also interested, then the single supplement fee can be waived. The matching service is completely optional for travelers and a match cannot be guaranteed. Please contact our Adventures Team to check on pricing and availability.
What is the food like?
All meals are included except for Day 1 and Day 7 of the trip. On Day 1 a welcome dinner is included and on Day 7, only breakfast is included. All food for the trip is either prepared in the kitchen of the lodging property or will be provided at local restaurants along the trip route. The type of food varies but includes lots of rice, beans, chicken, and vegetables. Almost all dietary needs can be accommodated, but please let OneSeed Expeditions know ahead of time.
How much extra money should people budget?
Plan to spend at least $25-$35 per day for expenses not covered by the trip.
What should people bring? Do you have a packing list?

Should I purchase travel insurance? If so, do you have a recommended provider?
We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance for all trips. Travel insurance allows you to seek reimbursement if you are forced to cancel your trip for unforeseeable reasons, or if you need to cover medical help, emergency transport, and/or theft or accidental damage while traveling. For travel insurance, we recommend VisitorsCoverage.
Are there special requirements for entry into the destination I am visiting?
We recommend you visit the local government websites where you plan to travel and review the required documentation for entry, current restrictions, and general recommendations for travel within the area. We encourage you to also visit your home country's embassy website if you are traveling to a foreign country. Requirements can change rapidly. Please be sure you stay abreast of the requirements and restrictions for anywhere you plan to visit. You can also enroll in the U.S. government’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) and you will be sent updates if the situation in your destination changes. You can find the program link at https://step.state.gov/.
