No, please note that there is a minimum number of participants required in order for each departure to run. Please wait until you receive your confirmation from the operator before making travel arrangements.
Fly into Victoria Falls Airport (VFA) in Zimbabwe, where a representative from Shockwave will greet you. British Airways and South African Airways service both Livingstone and Victoria Falls via Johannesburg, South Africa.
You'll be mostly tent camping along the river, but will need to book your own accommodations for the first night of the trip in Victoria Falls. Tents include a rain fly, but given the warm climate it's typically preferred to just have your mosquito netting -- this also lets you see the stars!
Meals from lunch on Day 1 through afternoon snacks and drinks on Day 5 will be covered in the trip cost. For breakfast, expect coffee, tea, and hot items such as eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, and french toast as well as cereal, yogurt, and fruit. Lunches will include items such as pasta salad, tuna, cold meats, biscuits, fruit, and juice. Afternoon snacks ("happy hour") will include cheese, crackers, popcorn, nuts, dried fruits, and cold drinks. Dinners will include dishes such as rice, chicken, vegetable stir fry, steak, baked potatoes, spaghetti, chicken, and traditional Zimbabwean sadza. Veggies will be served at each dinner, and if you're successful fishing, you'll of course enjoy fresh fish too!
Pricing is based on shared tent accommodations, but if you're a solo traveler you have the option to pair with a traveler of the same gender (if this option exists). If not, or if you want to secure your own tent, you'll need to pay a single supplement fee directly to the operator.
You should plan on packing water shoes, synthetic shorts and t-shirts, a swimsuit, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, toiletries, a waterproof camera, a water bottle, and cash to purchase items from villages.
With all rafting adventures, there is the possibility of falling in the water. Your PFD (personal flotation device) will help you stay afloat, and Shockwave’s fully certified and experienced guides will help you get back into the boat. There is also a safety kayaker on the trip, who acts as an additional safety crewmember to help you get into the boat or to the shore.
Travel insurance is not required, but we highly recommend purchasing travel insurance for all trips. Travel insurance allows you to seek reimbursement if you are forced to cancel your trip for unforeseeable reasons, or if you need to cover medical help, emergency transport, and/or theft or accidental damage while traveling. For travel insurance suggestions, please email us.
You may cancel reservations up to 72 hours after the booking is made. After that time period, all modifications/cancellations will be granted solely at the discretion of Shockwave Rafting. Cancellation processing fees may apply.
