Today is a free day in Cusco. There is an optional Sacred Valley day tour (additional $45 per person) that takes you to colorful markets and the historic towns of Pisac, Urubamba, and Ollantaytambo.
Transfer to the train station take a scenic ride to Aguas Calientes. After a 3.5-hour journey of majestic views, you arrive to Aguas Calientes where you will spend the night. There will be plenty of time to relax if you want to have a hot bath in the natural springs! Enjoy a relaxing afternoon and prepare for the excitement of Machu Picchu.
Rise early and take a bus to Machu Picchu to catch a picturesque sunrise, and then begin a guided walking tour. After the tour, take some time to explore the mysterious city. Hike down to Aguas Calientes or take the bus to meet for lunch. After lunch, board the train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo, followed by a bus from Ollantaytambo to Cusco.
Board a morning bus to Puno. Along the way, stop at many historical sacred sites and La Raya, the half-way point between Cusco and Puno and also the highest point (4335 meters above sea level). The landscapes are stunning and typical Andean animals like the llama, alpaca and vicuna are common sights. Upon arrival in Puno, transfer to your hotel and meet your guides who will welcome you and provide you some extra information for the coming activities.
Start the day with the floating Uros Islands, which are located 25 minutes from the port of Puno. This is one of 65 small floating islands that exist today. Learn the history and lifestyle of the people who have lived on these islands for many years. Afterwards, sail towards "Taquile Island", which is a traditional Quechua speaking community full of ancient agricultural terraces and some ruins dating back to the pre-Inca times. When you reach the island, walk up along a narrow path, enjoying impressive views of Lake Titicaca and seeing gorgeous little houses inhabited by the direct descendants of the Inca culture. Enjoy an authentic experience with an overnight homestay on Luquina Island.
Enjoy breakfast with the host family, and participate in local activities provided such as farming and daily living style. After lunch and finally goodbyes to the local family, head down to the harbor and sail to Puno.
Spend your final morning relaxing and exploring Puno. Transfer to the airport and fly to Lima.
