What is the best way to get to the trip start location?

Plan to fly into Dubrovnik airport (DBV). It is recommended that you arrive by 3:00 pm. Transfers for arrivals by 6:00 pm are included, but you may miss group dinner and orientation. Arrivals after 6:00 pm may be subject to a surcharge for transfers or overnight on land. If you want to spend more time in Dubrovnik, it is recommended that you plan your arrival one day earlier.
Please note that the trip ends in Zagreb. Airport transfers are included, but you'll need to arrange your departing flights accordingly.

What are the accommodations like?

The accommodations for this trip are in 3-star guesthouses and hotels. On Sipan Island, the guesthouses are equipped with air conditioning and wifi. All accommodations are made to meet the international standards. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms with the exception of the homestay in Korana where it’s possible to have a shared bathroom between two bedrooms.

Yes, if you are a solo traveler and would like your own room, single accommodations are available for a fee. Please contact our Adventure Team to discuss pricing and check on availability.

Are meals included? What is the food like?

For a list of included meals, see the day-to-day itinerary. Any meals not listed are at your own expense. The food throughout the trip is all local and provided by small family restaurants or households. The type of cuisine varies depending on the destination and you'll get to experience local cooking traditions from each region you visit.

I have special dietary preferences. Can you cater to vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diets?

Yes, most special diets (vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free) can be accommodated with prior notice. In certain areas the selection of snacks in local shops will be limited so your guides recommend bringing your own. Also note that local circumstances cannot guarantee that gluten-free food will be prepared in a 100% gluten-free environment. Please contact our Travel Services Team with any questions about specific dietary needs.

How much extra money should people budget?

Huck Finn Adventure Travel recommends budgeting between $220 – $280 for personal expenses. This should cover meals and beverages that aren't included, souvenirs, and tips.

What should people bring? Do you have a packing list?

After booking your trip, you'll receive a document from the tour operator with plenty of useful information about your trip, including a gear list.

What kind of physical shape is needed in order to successfully participate in activities? Is there any special preparation/training required for this trip?

A moderate level of physical fitness is recommended for this trip. No special training is required. It’s recommended that participants know how to swim and do not suffer any serious medical conditions. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions about the necessary fitness for this trip.

I have never kayaked, canoed or rafted before. Can I still do the trip?

Yes! The trip has been designed with a degree of flexibility, so your guide will be able to match the day's activities with your ability level. On most days it is possible to do an easier version of the activity and conversely to extend it and make it more demanding for those guests with prior paddling experience.

Should I purchase travel insurance? If so, do you have a recommended provider?

We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance for all trips. Travel insurance allows you to seek reimbursement if you are forced to cancel your trip for unforeseeable reasons, or if you need to cover medical help, emergency transport, and/or theft or accidental damage while traveling. Are there special requirements for entry into the destination I am visiting?

We recommend you visit the local government websites where you plan to travel and review the required documentation for entry, current restrictions, and general recommendations for travel within the area. We encourage you to also visit your home country's embassy website if you are traveling to a foreign country. Requirements can change rapidly. Please be sure you stay abreast of the requirements and restrictions for anywhere you plan to visit. You can also enroll in the U.S. government’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) and you will be sent updates if the situation in your destination changes. You may postpone or modify your trip up to 60 days prior to departure with no fees or penalties.
You will have the option to:
1) Select a new travel date within one year of your original departure date, or
2) Select a new adventure or destination, or
3) Receive 100% lifetime store credit toward a future trip.
*Please note, when choosing a new date, you must choose a date within one year from your original departure date and within the same travel season to avoid any additional trip costs. If you select a new adventure, you will be responsible for the difference of any additional trip costs above the value of your current trip.
Up to 30 days prior to departure*
You may postpone your trip up to 30 days prior to departure with no fees or penalties.
You will have the option to:
1) Select a new travel date within one year of your original departure date, or
2) Receive a lifetime store credit toward a future trip. Standard cancellation fees will apply.
*Please note, when choosing a new date, you must choose a date within one year from your original departure date and within the same travel season to avoid any additional trip costs. If you choose to cancel, you will receive a lifetime credit, minus cancellation fees, towards a future trip.
