Day 1
Arrive Ulaanbaatar airport

Arrive at Ulaanbaatar airport where you'll be greeted by Blue Wolf Travels, and transferred to your hotel. Once you're settled, you'll embark on a city tour and explore Gandan Monastery, a Buddhist center in Ulaanbaatar. See the Zanabazar Museum, Chojin Lama temple and have lunch at a typical Mongolian Restaurant: The winter Palace.

Day 2
Olgii

After an early breakfast, you'll transfer to Ulaanbaatar airport and fly to Olgii. Meet your local Kazakh guide at Olgii airport. Have lunch at the Blue Wolf Restaurant before visiting a local museum in Olgii. Enjoy dinner with Kazakh and a concert from the local singers and musicians.

Day 3
Dayan Lake (7,874 feet, 4-5hrs)

Drive to Dayan Lake, near the frontier of China. Drive through the Hargant Valley, below Tsengel Hairhan Uul (9,984 feet). After a picnic lunch, continue driving and reach Dayan lake. Visit Kazakh nomadic families and enjoy their warm hospitality.

Day 4
Baga Turgen Uul (7,054 to 7,874 feet, 6-7hrs)

Load the equipment onto pack-camels and start hiking the nearby western side of Hurgan Nuur and Hoton Nuur, where many Nomadic Kazakh families spend their summer. As you make your way along the lakes, see the beautiful waterfalls, rock printings, and some ancient Trukic stones. Take in the snowcapped mountains that form a natural wall between China and Mongolia.

Days 5-7
Hoton Lake (7,546 to 7,874 feet, 6-8hrs)

Spend your full days trekking through the steppe valley along the river that drains from the Altai Tavanbogd massif. The camel caravan comes out to the steppe valleys of the lake area.
Pitch camp on the shores of Hoton Lake. Trek up a valley with patches of Larch forests and have a picnic lunch near Green Lake. After few hours of trekking arrive at Bear Valley, where you will pitch another camp.

Day 8
Bear Valley (7,874 feet)

Enjoy a well-earned rest day. Go for a day hike along the waterfalls up to Bear Valley before spend the night near the falls.

Days 9-10
Altai Mountains crossing (7,874 to 10,827 feet, 6-7hrs)

Blue Wolf has allocated two full days for the crossing of the Altai Mountain range. The total distance is about 20 miles. You will pitch camp before the snowy area. Cross the Altai at the highest elevation of 11,811 feet and enjoy the broad views across the Altais near the peak of Tsagaan Hairhan Uul (12,014 feet).

Day 11
Shiveet Khairkhan (9,186 to 8,202 feet, 5-6hrs)

Trek down to Shiveet Hairhan Mountain, where the Tuva people live. View the biggest petrolgyphs from the period of the Huns.

Days 12-14
Tavanbogd massif (8,202 to 9,843 feet, 6-8hrs)

On the first day of this section, you'll trek about 6.5 miles toward the base camp of the snow-capped Tavanbogd massif. Pitch camp next to the Potanina glacier – the biggest of the 20 glaciers in Mongolian Altai. Remain there for two nights.
You'll spend your second day, hiking to the Malchin Uul. These are non-technical climbs.
Third day, trek back to Tsaagan River (White River). The pick-up vehicle(s) will arrive.

Day 15
Olgii (5-6hrs)

Drive via Ulaanhus over desert mountain landscapes with the snow-capped Sogoog Mountain as a powerful backdrop and the Altai Mountain range ahead of you. See petroglyphs and Turkic stones along the Sogoog River basin. After 5-6hrs, you'll arrive back to Sagsay village.

Fly to Ulaanbaatar

After breakfast, transfer to Olgii airport to catch a flight for Ulaanbaatar. Meet Blue Wolf guide at the Ulaanbaatar airport and transfer to Kempinskii

After early breakfast, transfer to Ulaanbaatar airport for your flight out.

This trip includes an optional three-day extension if you wish to attend the Altai Eagle festival, held September 15-16. This is a fantastic opportunity for photographers and adventurers alike to see these magnificent birds up close as eagle hunters from around the region gather to test their finely trained birds in singular contests of speed and agility. The festival also includes traditional horse games and music. Accommodations will be in a local Ger camp, with all meals included. The cost of attending the festival is not included in the price advertised. If you wish to attend the festival an additional $200 can be paid directly to Blue Wolf Travel.
